Hi
I have a Whale Automatic Shower Pump being used with a mixer shower in an upstairs en-suite (there wasn't enough space between the floors to run 4" waste). It's a SDS021T, at least that's the model referred to in the install guide for the shower tray kit.

3 years after the install, the shower tray fills up during a shower to the extent that I need to reduce the shower flow to stop the tray filling up completely. I'm not aware of any changes which would increase the mains flow so I've come to the conclusion that the pump system isn't functioning properly. When showering, the pump does run and it sounds nice & fast, so it is still working, just not as well as it used to.

Any ideas what the cause & fix might be? I'm trying drain unblocker just in case the pipe from the drain -> pump -> outlet is blocked with hair, etc., but that in itself is difficult as the pump wont draw the chemical into the pipe until the shower is switched on, and switching it on will suck said chemical through the pump, not giving it a chance to work it's magic.

The pump itself is accessible, but not without a degree of bodily contortion as I'd need to twist & crawl through the eves of the house to get to it. I've not looked yet, but as it worked fine before, I'm guessing the plumber set the Start Delay, Off Delay, Pump Speed & Purge cycle correctly at the time (we have a decent flow rate from our unvented cylinder).

It's a bit annoying not being able to run the shower at full blast, so any advice would be gratefully received

Ta!

Guess you're looking at a blockage, if not then it may be the diaphram/Tricuspid Valve that needs replaced.

Time to get your yoga shorts on methinks :)
