Hi I've a RCD that has tripped out 3 times over the last 6 months, in the past I think it has been the tumble dryer as the fuse in the plug has blown. this time it appears to be the cooker as it trips when I turn it on, any ideas why this should happen so intemittently and what causes it?

Many thanks

Just to check:

The RCD is the thing that has a Test button on it, it is not an MCB?

What was the fault on the tumble drier, and how did you have it repaired?

How many circuits do you have on the RCD (and what are they?) and how many not on the RCD (and what are they?)

What is the rating of the RCD (all the letters are nunbers you can see if you are not sure, please)?

===================

Idea why it happens:

Perhaps your RCD has too many circuits and appliances on it, and the background leakage is adding up and getting near to the trip level.

The electric coooker has a natural amount of leakage that has risen with age

The tumble drier has got something wrong with it.

Your electrical installation is old and needs repair or replacement.

It's OK it looks like my bottom oven is the problem as it trips the RCD every time I turn it on.
Thanks
