REAL INTELLIGENCE NEEDED - Mushroom Entrance Knob

Hi there... At home I have on my bedroom door just an ordinary door knob, which when you turn opens the catch thus enabbling the door to be pushed open. However I want to fit a knob with a lock, I have looked on B&Q's Website and have seen these two items

Basically I live in rented accomodation so I cant drill or chisel into the door, but i was hoping that I could fit one of these without to much trouble or damage. Do u think I could do this. i.e. just replace my exisiting mechanism with one of these.

Your link didn't work for me but assume you mean this? The distance from the door edge to the centre line of the splndle does vary depending on the mortice latch and the end plate is not a standard size either. You should ask the landlord for permission
