I have lovely deep moulded coving all round the ceiling of my living room. As I've stripped both the the ceiling and walls of the horrible woodchip, some of the paint on the coving has also flaked off (in great big chunks!)
So now it looks as though I'll have to strip the coving too, before I paint it. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations please?
The main problem is the shape of the coving, it's so curved that it's hard to get any kind of scraping tool in the grooves. I just tried something called home strip paint and varnish remover, which I chose cos it's low toxic (I've had bad experiences with nitro mors and similar). But after applying to a small area and waiting 1 hour, I've just spent 20 mins scraping and only managed to clear a small area.
I remember seeing something on TV once about a kind of poultice that they put on carved mouldings to remove the paint in one go. Has anyone any knowledge or experience of using something like that? Or is it a very specialised product?
Any help appreciated...
