Evening all.

I'm currently refurbishing my house and I'm at the stage where I need to render the inside of a chimney Brest.

I'm no expert but have done some plastering in the past etc.

At the moment it's just exposed brickwork.

I would like to know the correct method and materials to do so.

I've done abit of research and there seems to be many ways of doing such a job, I'd rather get some advise from someone who knows their stuff :)

How do I prep the brickwork.
Should I use lime.
Do I need to put a scratch coat first or just one coat straight on?
What ratio of sand and cement do I use?

Thanks everyone.

What do you mean by "render the inside of a chimney breast"? Do you mean inside the fire opening?

As always post some pics, it really helps.
