Repainting a steel front door & plastic electric box

Good morning

I need to repaint a currently dark blue modern metal front door as the paint has faded and the meter box adjacent to it. Regarding the door is it a case of a fine rub down, prime & undercoat & paint?

And what about the plastic meter box, the same method but special primer?

Any help appreciated.

On the front door, rub down with wet n dry clean off, undercoat, rub down again, bit finer grade. And gloss. With the plastic meter box, rub down with a finer grade paper and clean off, no undercoat, just gloss thinned a little, lay it off gently and leave.

Also, what sort of brush should I use?

As in synthetic or pure bristle.

I personally dont like synthetic brushes and have always used brushes with pure bristles.
