Lifted downstairs carpets today and removed gripper rods in preparation for carpet fitters next week. There's various damage to the floor from the previous installation, ranging from cracks to loose chunks. What's best for making good. Should I just get a tub of ready mixed mortar or would a self levelling compound be more suitable?

TIA
