I need some replacement spindles for a refurbishment project house im working on. The previous owner has replaced the broken ones with metal spindles.

I have searched and there are numerous companies that do custom turned spindles, but the house has rectangular ones.

Has anyone got a supplier that be able to reproduce these without costing the earth?

Thanks

By rectangular, do you mean not turned, i.e. with four square edges?

If so, why not buy planed timber of the correct size and cut it to length?

I've just zoomed in on the photo and can see the problem.
If you do not have woodworking machiery (not power tools), you will need to get these made.

A company which makes wooden window frames could do it.

they wont be cheap the machining /workmanship will be horrendous

think you should be planning on complete or part replacement
aim for a complete floor or level and use the spares to fill in the gaps else where
making sure the level you choose to replace has the same vertical spaces or more than the original so the the spindle you release as spare will fit the remaining else gaps where

I had a feeling it wouldnt be cheap...

Have you got a rough idea of what I would be exptecting to pay per spindle and the amount of time per spindle for someone with the correct tools to reproduce these?

Thanks

£50 to£100 set up the machine £10 a spindle

or hand done £20 to £50 each some old boy pottering away in his shed lol

Thats actually a lot more reasonable than I thought. What machine would they use and do you have any companies you could recommend (preferably in the North West).

I know it would be easier, but I like the style of the spindles and im trying to restore the house, so want to keep them if possible.

Just a thought, if you're only painting them anyway.. why not take a mould of one and cast them in a strong resin or somesuch?
