My replacement shower has a 15mm pipe. When I try and connect this to the existing inlet pipe's compression fitting using a new 15mm compression nut, the nut will only turn a quarter of a turn and will not go further. The shower is about 20 years old.
There appears to be no stop cock specifically for the shower. I could break up the old shower to get the compression nut that was used for it, and try and use that nut which does screw onto the inlet pipe. However if it doesn't work I will not be able to turn the ater back on. We are in an area where all taps are connected directly to the mains.
