Hi
I'm wanting to install a Richard Burbidge handrail, baserail, elements balusters and newel posts.
All looks fairly straight forward apart from the bottom newel on the bullnose step.
I've attached some photos to help explain.
I'm thinking of routing out a part of the newel post to slot the staircase string into. Securing this with anchor screws rather than wooden dowels like in the existing photos (unless you suggest otherwise)
The existing newel is also cut to fit around the stairs steps, so I was planning to do the same. Unless advice on here is to keep the strength of the full newel post rather than cut it.
Any advice appreciated.
