Hello, hopefully somebody can help me with this one....

I need to replace an old Drayton 22mm actuator, I understand the new one simply snaps on however the old one does not appear to be of the snap on and off variety as it has no button sticking out etc. As such, I presume it is screwed into the valve pipework itself, therefore....

1. Is it easy to remove the old one, if so how is it done?

2. Will the new actuator which is the snap on type snap fit onto the old exisiting valve? It does appear as though it will fit....

3. Please confirm in all this that I don't need to turn off the water and get wet......

Many thanks

Ed

Sorry, but if your existing valve does not have a removable actuator, you will have to replace the complete valve. This means you have to drain down.

not so.

It is a pain in the neck though, you can drill holes in the new actuator body in the same place as the old one (its obvious when you have then in front of you. then get 2 20mm m3.5 screws, and a few washers to act as spacers then you have effectivly got the old style actuator and its the same procedure as to change that.

Oh i did have to hack a small corner on the pcb to allow the screw to fit.

Not ideal i know, but it works fine and saved me a valve/inhibitor and the hassle of draining the system down.

wizzi is on fire with these old posts. Ask him anything, but make sure it's a Drayton head replacement.
