Hi all, I need some help with the above.

I've attached a picture if the internal wiring of my existing thermostat, as well as the wiring diagram on the inside of the cover. I've purchased a siemens RDH10 digital room thermostat which has LX (common) connector and L1 Switched and L2 which isn't used. The siemens back plate doesn't appear to have a L1 connector available (no fixing screw or anything/blanked off) only LX and L2. Wiring the existing blue cable to LX and the brown cable to L2 (earth isolated), the siemens works incorrectly. If i raise the temperature, the boiler turns off, and if I reduce the temperature the boiler turns on. I've swapped the cables round (brown to LX and blue to L2) but the same thing happens. It look like to me that the siemens backplate is faulty as it doesn't have a L1 usable terminal (it's blanked off). Am i right in assuming it's faulty or have I done something wrong?
