Friends recently bought a house and have just discovered the source of a bad smell is the waste from a ground floor shower that appears to have no "U" bend. With the wind in the wrong direction the stench pipe doesn't work.

The shower waste pipework is not accessible (solid floor) and drains are a nightmare due to ground levels. Until the shower pan can be taken out and a trap fitted I proposed a soft rubber seal over the waste hole as a temporary fix. But this will have to be removed when the shower is used.

I can see how to create a small "U trap" from concentric tubes that could be fitted into the waste. Before fabricating this I would like to make sure there is not something already on the market.

Hep V O waste valve...and 90degree adapter

Can this be fitted without lifting the shower pan which appears to be set into the concrete floor and its edges are under the tiles on the walls.

Can't see how as you need access to the waste pipework.:(

If it is set in concrete you have had it.

Best thing is to raise the shower tray and fit a shallow shower trap if you can.

If not..............
