I want to insulate sloping upstairs roof of old house. Roof sound but rafters are only 7cm deep, which is far too shallow to allow breathing space and insulation between rafters.
Any ideas how to proceed? Big area to cover- one "room" has sloping roof of height 9m and breadth 8m
Thanks

Hi

You could add say 50mm thickness of PIR Insulation material and this will make quite a significant difference to the heat loss.
If you want to go a step further add a further 50mm layer of PIR over the rafters and use a plasterboard finish if you want to have a finished surface.
