Roof membrane use

Right, don't laugh.. I'm up in the loft tidying & increasing insulation. The loft floor is boarded out for storage (strengthened joists) & lights have been fitted. I read somewhere that someone stapled roofing membrane to the underside of their rafters for the purpose of adding a cheap & easy covering to them that made it a little tidier and a bit brighter up there, see example picture below.

Pros and cons of doing this? Obviously it serves no purpose as a roof membrane as it's inside the rafters.

Have done that for a friend , keeps the dust at bay and reflects light making it brighter.
 
Ok thanks. My only concern that it may conceal any future defects in the roofing felt.
