Total novice on roof tiles here :D

I have noticed that a roof tile of mine has split in half and I want to replace it, well I'm not replacing but someone that I know is doing it.

Anyway, the tile sits on the left hand side of my house on the rise up, it's an angled piece (90 degree angle). Question is what information do I need to take to my local builders merchant for them to supply me with a replacement ? I have the size of the tile but I don't want to sound like a gimp when I go to buy the replacement.

What you are describing sounds like a " dry verge system" tile (sounds like virgin) ideally find the maker -stamped underneath- because several different ones...also tell them which hand L/R (as you posted) And the estate where you live..because local merchants sometimes know the materials used. :)
