RSJ- Building another storey above a single storey flat roof

Yes it was all the rage a century ago.

The fact that it is not stable and will deflect slowly for months as it settles and dries, and then change with humidity, plus the risks of rot and other stuff, makes it a poor choice for major structural member when better options are available.

This makes be suspect that the designer is not from the UK

Thanks for the reply,

I will get this changed, as I definitely don't want any issues in the future

Do you know what the process is for a cavity wall on a steel? As in does it require two steels or is there a steel available that will cover around 300mm?

With regards to the architect, that's correct he wasn't born here, but did do his studies here

Thanks

Cavity walls tend to need two steels, bolted together and on padstones
