Sealing car-port roof sheets to a brick wall

Am having the plastic roof of my carport replaced. In the past there has always been the odd leak between the adjoining brick wall and the sides of the sheets. What is the best way to create a permanent joint between the two, please?

Use a flashing. Can be lead or if that's too dear flashband works ok but is a bit naff.

Any method other than a flashing is just a bodge.
