second story extension

So basically i had to put application in and pay all fees with drawings before any 1 will inspect the footings?

Yes. Legally, (and for insurance and liability issues) the Council can't get involved unless there is a valid and registered application.

No letter or might be's, a proper application.

So we managed to sort it through the council for a inspector to come an check the footings....all good to go. The application and plans submitted..all seems good up to now. Just been going through the plans. 2 questions I would like some info on. 1 how to extend the ridge board....do you butt joint and splice. Same with purlins? 2. Plans state 4x2 for roof spars when the originals are 3x2.
Many thanks
