I have in my house PIR security lighing (500w) front and back. This is powered by a cable ran through the window frame and then plugged into a single gang socket. ( previous owner) I intend to run a 2.5mm
T+E spur off the socket (ring main) to a FCU (3 Amp) and then connect to the security lighting.

First question

Is the above reasonable or is there a better way?

Second question

As this is adding a spur to an exsisting ring the work is non notifiable as I understand it. Am I correct?

Many thanks

Addind a spur is not notfiable unless it is from akitchen ring, the method you suggest should be taken from a ring that has no substantial fixed load such as washing mc and diswashers, you will need to use a 5amp fuse in your fsu as 2x500 watss is in excess of 4 amps

If security is important consider fitting two FCU's, one for each light. Then if one lamp blows and takes the fuse with it (which it will) you'll still have the other one. :) :) :)
