Apologies for the vulture first post

Hope someone can help, I've just had a shower mixer fitted and tap in the middle controls the temperature. Now when turning it to go colder it goes hotter and vice versa. Easy so far. The problem is that regulating the temperature is nigh on impossible. Would I be right in thinking that with the mixer plumbed erse for elbow that this would be the source of the temperature problem? The hot water supplied is also from a combi boiler and its some distance away.

So would the supplies being the wrong way round make temperature control impossible? I would have thought that the hot would have to be on a constant flow to maintain a set temp from the boiler and the mixer introduces the cold to regulate the temperature at the shower head?
