hi hope you dont mind me jumping in here, but i am thinking of fitting a new shower for my sister,
she has a modern WYLEX RCD board fitted, with 2 available blanks
after determining what shower and cable to use would i be ok to fit a
40amp RCD breaker into one of the blanks to feed the shower.

any help much appreciated

No hijacking posts.. I've asked the mods to split it..

do you mean RCBO?
if it's already got RCD fitted, and the spare slots are on the RCD protected side then yes, a suitable MCB could be fitted there..

to DIY, you would need to notify the LABC and pay the fee in advance of starting the work.. ( look up "Part P" in the wiki at tho top of the page.. )

if you are confident in your ability to do it right, select the right cable, the right breaker, ensure the bonding ( both main and suplimentary ) is in place and adequate, know the rules regarding routes the cable can take and all the rest then by all means have a go and feel free to ask here if you need advice..
