Sink leaking due to badly-cast bottom-boss

Hello

Unsure if above is clear, but my problem is that , after buying and installing a new hand-basin in the WC, I found that the bottom boss was badly cast at an angle and it was impossible to get any kind of a seal when screwing the female half of the plug assembly onto the basin.

As already on wall, didn't want to take off and return ( long way to store as well ) and so used angle grinder to flatten/level boss. It is now close to level but still leaking: I don't want to continue with the grinder in case I go too far and there is not enough thread on the assembly to allow me to fit two washers.

If I apply silcone to the boss and screw up onto that, would you expect that would give me a seal that would hold permanently?

Thanks in advance

Thumbs up for basin mate here as well. Always fit them regardless first time seal everytime and no gunge of any type required.

Yes ;) But if you`ve got hemp+ boss white handy , make a fat sticky grommet - gunge is good :p
