Hello,

I'd like to have the walls in one room reskimmed.
How do plasterers go about sockets and switches?
do they pull them out or just skim around them?

thanks

You’ve posted in the wrong forum but I spotted it anyway! I generally undo the screws, pull them away from the wall, wrap them in a sandwich bag with tape & skim around them. If there are several close together or positioned where they will make skimming awkward, I remove the face plate, fix the wires into a temporary terminal block, wrap it in insulation tape & Gaffa tape the whole lot back inside the box.

If you’re attempting this yourself, you must ensure there is no chance of the metal trowel touching a live terminal behind the switch/socket!
