I've gone and removed a load of skirting board today on walls that comprise mainly of breezeblock. However, when taking the nails out, quite a lot of the cement/plaster layer covering a wooden horizontal support has come off.
I would like to put new skirting on soon and I am concerned that there won't be enough surface area for the skirting to butt against.
What is the best approach here?
Use gripfill to make up the void and secure with screws?
I understand that putting a plaster coat against wood probably won't work.
Any ideas?
