Just moving into a house where there was Sky TV. I have a Sky Box which I want to connect and then get a freesat card for £20. However the incoming cable from the dish is a twin cable with the screw type connector on each. There is only one terminal on the box I have that takes a screw type connector. Can anyone help to explain why there are two incoming please and how to connect up.

The previous tenent/owner must have had Sky+.

I believe that Sky+ needs two LNBs (bit attached to dish) and therefore 2 cables. Your box should work with either cable conected.

You won't do any harm by plugging either one in anyway so just give it a go and see if it works.

if you have a sky card already but have canceled your subscription, you should be able to get freeview channels with that still..

I havent got any card yet as I just bought the box second hand and wanted to make sure its OK before buying the card.

Once you have sky+, you will never look back!

Only thing is, it costs £10 a month if you do not subscribe to a package ;)

yeah iirc the V+ can record two and watch one at the same time. The main downsides of virgin media cable are you can't get it everywhere and you can't get sky 1 on it anymore.

Sky+ will:

Record two things, watch a recorded.
Watch one thing live, record another.

Virgin can do the same if not more I believe, and this is why sky+ is now free to subscribers.

Virgin is certainly not available here.

Thanks for all the advice and subsequent views. I have with your help found the answers and am up and running. Thanks
