Small concrete plinth

I want to build a concrete plinth (300mm x 300mm x 100mm) and fix a light to it outside.

I guess I should remove a piece of turf, construct some form work the size I want, fill it and tamp down? Once it's dry, remove the timber?

Ballast 6:1?

how tall is the light. you may need to go a bit deeper than turf level. are you going to duct the cable to it too.

Good point, I didn't think of that.

The light is about 500mm high so I guess I should dig a bit more out. And yes, I am going to put some plastic duct in the base ready to pull a cable through.
