Smoker damage and eggshell

Hi,

Need to decorate a small flat. Last tenant was a heavy smoker so it all needs to be done properly.

I have read here about using a diluted oil based undercoat or PVA, either of which is fine with me but just wondering about oil based eggshell but guess it would be an expensive sealer.

Any other thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Andy,

There are many stain block applications available that will indeed solve your problem. However in your situation a thinned oil based undercoat would suffice, and on no account be tempted to use PVA
