Softwood floorbaords in kitchen

Hi Im about to lay some softwood T&G floorboards in the kitchen. The floor is a floating one. Do I need to treat the wood to avoid it getting damp underneath or anything?

Hi Ziggadebo, I spotted your post after doing a search. If you're still out there a year on, I'd interested in how you got on as I am considering doing something similar. What sub-floor did you put your boards onto ? And what did you finish them with ?
