My house has has external wooden features that were painted with Solignum Architectural from new, and I repaint them every 4/5 years. The time has come when I need to paint them again, but I am struggling finding this Solignum product in suitable sizes.

I can get Zinsser as an alternative, so no problem, but I'm struggling matching the shade. Solignum does not use RAL colours and only gives its shades names such as Jacobean! Has anyone else come up against this problem and were they able to figure out the closest RAL shade?

My best guess is that Jacobean is approximately RAL 8014, but as I don't have a colour-calibrated computer monitor, that's all I have - a "best guess". Does anyone in the DiyNot collective have any better ideas? Thanks.

Sadolins Jacobean walnut equates to RAL 8016
OK, many thanks. I appreciate both you and @CACKATALLTRADES taking the time to help with my quest.

I'll order Zinsser in that shade. Saves having to apply for a loan to buy the Solignum stuff. Shame really, because the Solignum is a dream to apply.

Best wishes...

Ordinarily I would say I always regret buying the cheaper paint but I've never had any problems with Zinsser! Best of luck.

Thanks for this. Have ordered the Zinsser stuff now - due just after the Bank Holiday. Appreciate your taking the time to help out.
