This might not be the best place to post but the alternatives are Tools and Materials or General DIY, neither of which is any better, so here goes:
The grouting in the tiles around our bath is decidedly grubby and the silicone around the bath edge has gone black in places. Nothing new there I suppose but Other Half is eyeing up a steam cleaner with a view to blasting the dirt off:

I'm a bit concerned about the effect it might have, like stripping the grout and silicone right out! Or will it be totally ineffective and a waste of money? Has anybody steam-cleaned tiles before?
