steel frame roof

I am in the process of building a quadruple garage with a hobbies room above. the footprint is 10.6m x 7.6m I am very interested in the steel frame roof idea as I want as much open space as possible. The building is a standard gable end and I would like one gable to be glass (rather like the end of a conservatory. Did you get anywhere with the idea?

Something like the original question was tackled in one of the Grand Designs programs a few years back. It was a 'house', I think in Edinburgh. Put a hipped roof on using steel girders then created the hip with steel. Can't remember much more than that but there may be something on the Channel 4 web site if you search under Grand Designs.
