can you use diesel in this burner and if you can does anvone know what pressure and nozzle size to use. we live in France and have a halstead jetstreme boiler which was working fine in england with kerosene but we now find the fuel here is diesel and the boiler is smoking like a chimney we cant get an engineer out at the moment so if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated

This particular appliance is designed for kerosene use only, however the general rule for a conversion to heavy oil is to reduce the nozzle size and increase the pump pressure. For example:
Using a 0.55 80 deg H nozzle, increase the pressure to 265 psi which should give an output of 29 kW. The air intake should be increased to ensure that a CO2 reading of about 11.5% is maintained.
I imagine that your existing nozzle will be somewhere around 0.85 80 deg EH, with a much lower pressure of 130 psi or thereabouts.
I must impress that these are theoretical settings, and not based on factual experience!!
Hope it helps though.
John :)
