stop spam

I am receiving loads of Spam in my inbox every day
I use Norton internet security I wish now to get rid of the Norton program an use one of the free ones available can anyone recommend a good free anti Spam program or tell me a way to stop the Spam.

have you started getting loads in say the last week?

i have been getting more to one particualr email address, there is only one place it is posted for the spam bots to see, My profile here on DIY not.

I think a spam bot has crawled this site.

ultimate way is to change your email address, but that is not always "possible"

has anyone else who reads this started getting more spam in say the last week?

and as softus says (is going to say) your isp can usualy help (a bit)

mine has increased in the last 10 days or so, looking at my antispam log, since 1/11/07 I got 27

from 1/10/07 to 8/10/07 I got only 5
From 1/9/07 to 8/9/07 I got only 6

They all go to two email addresses; one of them is an old one that got posted on a club site and the webmaster then lost interest so I can't get it removed

the other one I don't know where it's been found, but it is not my main one, it's a joke sort of name, so I may have registered somewhere.

I sometimes get spam on the address I use for ebay

I am very careful who I give my main email address to and i can't see any spam on it (my log goes back to June)

My addresses are not easily guessable (not [email protected])

And I have my own automated mail rules: Do not download from server; delete from server, if it contains penis, enlargement, viagra, tits, porn, etc

I am on Virgin Media/NTL
