Stopping bricks blowing out when drilling through walls

Hi all . . . silly question I know, but how do I stop bricks blowing out when drilling through both layers when pulling cables or installing coax? . . . . is it simply turning off the hammer on an SDS for the last little bit or are there other tricks?

yes just before you pop through
a small drill first then large drill from both sides
