I have to bleed the radiator in one of the bedrooms every other month for some reason...

The question I have is - is the gassy smell that occurs during bleeding normal?

We have a combi system with pressurised water for central heating.

Thanks

Kenny

I expect that the gas is a result of corrosion between the copper, brass and steel parts of the system. It may not have ?any? ?enough? corrosion inhibitor in it.

This corrosion gas does have a smell to it. You might find that any water you get out while bleeding leaves a black stain on the rag you catch it in.

Over enough years it will eat holes in your radiators and block them with sludge (gloom).

If you do a search on "Combi" and "corrosion" and "flush" and "fill" I think you will find some useful posts on here.

(I'm not use to Combi's so will stop now)

Thanks John - yeah I do have a black liquid coming out so I'll do that search.....
