Hey there,

Just started clearing out the loft in preparation for some work, however upon going up after many years of it being left untouched, I've straight away noticed the chimney which goes straight through the loft is surrounded by a grey cement like material that is crumbling in places.

The house was built around 1912, however some additional work may of been done up there since. My worry is whether this may be some form asbestos insulation or fire proofing.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Cheers, Tom
