I woke up today to find my swift flow 80 making a grinding , screeching noise from the fan. Everything else working as normal.

I can get a fan for roughly £125 or I can buy new bearings for £5!

Is it an easy job to replace the bearings? - I am very mechanically minded.

or would it be easier and more beneficial in the long run to just to replace the fan?

Thanks.

Never changed the bearings on any fan. not worth the extended labour time

much much easier to change the complete fan

Thats what I thought the answer would be!

Poo!

Better get the credit card out then.

Cheers.

Dont apologise, its not your fault!

I have sprayed some WD40 on the spindle and its now quiter than it has ever been since I moved into the flat in July! Amazing.

Obviously this is just a temporary fix, but if it can keep me going until next month my wallet will be much happier.

be prepared for the worst, WD40 normally gets them going, but only for a short while, then they stop completely :(

No worries. Im expecting that. But if it can last three weeks I will be happy.
