After a toilet flush, the cistern refills with a horrible noise and all the pipes rattle!

Any ideas?

I was going to ask the same matey.

There are literally hundreds of different float valves out there, If you post a pic, the forum will identify for you and instructions to replace.

The diaphragm in the valve has hardened up and is resonating as the valve closes. Get a new diaphragm and the problem will go away. Probably cost less than £1.

It'll cost you less than that if you ask IronNaz to do it ;) Mind you, if he can't fix it then he'll charge you a darned sight more and it still won't be fixed

It may be worthwhile turning the water off, dismantling the valve (you do this in-situ without removing it from the cistern) and taking the diaphragm with you to a plumbers merchant
