Just to say about the diagram in the above post with some saying it is a junction box and some saying a ceiling rose one thing I can say it is probably by no way a new diagram only an altered version of an old one.

At home I have a Readers Digest Repair Manual from 1976 first published 1972 with an identical diagram labelling it as a rose labelled loop in wiring. Only alterations been the labelling font is different, the CPC in my book is just green and the switched Live is also coloured red. Everything else is exactly the same.

You should reply in the post itself rather than create a new post as this leads to confusion such as the post you refer to is now well below this one.

They used to be called a ceiling rose. Now rnamed, mostly, as pendant.

Its the same.

"A rose by any other name will smell as sweet" or am I being pendantic

I would have thought taking over the post itself by starting to talk about a subject totally irrelevant to the question of the original post would be more confusing which is why I started a new topic about it.

Sorry, if I could I would have done so but don't have the camera, equipment etc required.

Sorry Moderator and everyone, I had just come home frm a night shift at work and was a bit drunk and got annoyed about the quote etc going wrong for me like always when I try to do them.
