We have recently moved house and have the above boiler fitted, which we believe is around 24 years old. We have discovered that when we put the boiler on to heat the water it is boiling it up rather than cutting off at the thermostat. The pipes bang and it makes an awful noise after about 40 minutes, therefore resulting in not being able to put the water on timed! We have replaced the timer, as this was past its sell by date, but the problem still occurs. Can anyone help? Does the thermocouple need replacing also? We don't want to keep throwing money into it if the whole thing needs replacing. However, everything else seems to be OK as the boiler as been regularly serviced.

You have answered it yourself. The boiler stat is not shutting down so is faulty and needs replacing

Thanks very much for your speedy reply. Maybe you can help further. Do you know if there is a website that shows wiring diagrams for this model. I have looked but cannot find anything. Or, is a thermostat easy to fit?

Once again thanks very much.
