We're thinking about tiling the steps to our basement. Does anyone have any experience with tiling stairs? All comments welcome.

Just a few random tips:

If you have loose steps fix them first.
Make sure you use floor tiles (not wall ones).
Work out your layout dry, before you start gluing.
(rather have a large cut at each end than one small one at one end only)
On the risers, if you need a cut to make the height fit, put it on the bottom.
On the treads, if you need a cut to make the depth, fit it at the back.
Use trim at the front edge (something hardwearing, not cheep plastic stuff).
Choose a suitable adhesive (don't use sililcone :) ).
and, oh yeh, start at the bottom.
