Come on all you experts. How do you drill a 1" hole in tiles to pass a shower feed pipe through. Is it a series of small holes or is there an easier way. Thanks all for your help. Graham.

i normally drill a series of small holes. its best to site the tile on a soft but firm surface like an old piece of foam backed carpet. the "give" in the carpet helps stop the tile from splitting.

Thanks noseall, I shall probably do as you suggested. As for the reply from confused. Can I get a 1" masonary bit? and I would have thought that it would cost rather a lot and would not prove cost effective to drill one hole. Thanks anyway both. Stratman.

Sorry yes I suppose it would be expensive just for one hole, If you were anywhere near me [Yorkshire ]you could borrow mine, ask around friends. good luck.

those tile bits arent that dear really , + cover the face with sticky tape as you start on low drill revs ....
