To skim or not to skim?

Hi All,

Hope someone can help me.

Have just stripped the wallpaper off or new house and am not sure whether to skim the plaster or not before I paint.

Plaster is relatively smooth with no bits falling off. Plaster is, however, very old so should I get it skimmed before painting it?

Thanks in advance

Paint it with vinyl mat and see how it looks. I quite like the aged look to an older property. If it looks bad then you can always skim over it.
