Please help, this is driving me nuts. I have a free-standing Ideal Mexico boiler downstairs in the kitchen running hot water and heating the rads. The heating is an aged one-pipe system but I've had it all cleaned out, fitted a new pump and it works fine. The problem is with the water, I seem to have too much! The cylinder is upstairs in the cupboard and looks fairly new, it has the built-in insulation. Almost as soon as the heating comes on there's a sound like a running tap in the attic, I've been up there and it's the pipe from the cylinder venting boiling hot water into the tank above, this might be the cause of some damp patches in the house, the sides of the tank were covered in polystyrene which was saturated, probably in condensation. The electric immersion is switched to 'off'.

Turn the pump speed down. Where is the vent in relation to the boiler and to the feed and expansion pipe and to the pump?

Thanks for that, I forgot the pump speed, I turned the boiler and room thermostats back a bit. The new pump does not have such an obvious screw for the spped. Is it the brass screw in the centre at the top of the pump> Clockwise or anti to turn it down?

Righdoo!
I found it, a wee white plastic monkey at the back of the pump. Turned it back 2 notches and seems to have done the trick. I'm chuffed! Looking forward to a good night's sleep without the damned dripping!!
