the UK has about 250 native species of bee, so apparently they are native (y)

It is unknown about the honey bee, they have have been selectively bred and hybridised for so long it would be hard to know the origins.

but hey, don't the let the facts get in the way of any opportunity to turn a thread into a Brexit rant :ROFLMAO:

Define native! Once there was very little life in Britain because it was under a glacier, animals and early human settlers only colonised northern England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland after the ice started to recede. Southern England was frozen tundra, not very good for humans. Some early Brits came from the area that is now Turkey - the people who built or visited stonehenge at least. Others cam from the area around Spain (Picts from Basque region). All in the relatively recent past, geologically speaking. :)

Definition. Native Species: a species that occurs naturally within a region, either evolving there or arriving and becoming established without human assistance.

It is fairly certain that the Dark European Honey Bee, Apis mellifera mellifera, has been native to mainland Britain since before the closing of the Channel Landbridge, when sea levels rose following the last Ice Age. They became isolated and adapted to the different conditions they found themselves in.

It's always odd when considering what's "native" as Asian food is often categorised by chillies, peppers, potatoes, coriander etc, none of which are native to Asia. Just as apples aren't native to the Americas.

They are, there are some 250 bee species native to this great country :ROFLMAO:

Those 250 species did not come from Africa.

So were the dinosaurs,geologically speaking..If Earth is 24hours old,,humans arrived at 11 55pm..and feked the planet over
