urgent!! dot and dab keeps failing

I need to dot and dab a but of interior brick work (chimney breast) after i ripped all the ancient plaster of

But the dry lining adhesive wont stick to the wall

They are dusty, do i need to PVA it!! loads of places say dont use pva

I really need to get this finished today, please any help

yes you should unibond the walls always to form a key.
the moisture in the plaster eats in to the pva and both become one as it sets giving a good firm fix.

normal bonding is cheaper and a good board adheisive.

Wash the dust off which will also dampen the wall, brush some diluted PVA on and then dab - really the PVA is optional as the adhesive is quite sticky.

Remember to give the adhesive a bit of a 'flick' off the trowel so that is splats on the wall.
 
well I applied pva in a roughly 3:1 over the whole area.
Let is dry for a while
then tried again
seems to have worked this time
