Recently had a new ecotec plus combi boiler fitted which has a 24hour time clock for on/off heating periods. Does anyone know if it is possible to change this time clock for a 7 day programmer? If so, 1) Whats the cost? 2) What type of programmer is best? 3) Can a good d.i.y.er fit it?
Many thanks in advance!!

The VRT140 would be the best option for you. It's digital and controls heating and HW pre-heat if you use it.

There is no such thing as a VRT140, there is a Timeswitch 140 though which is exactly what you describe.

Vaillant do a VRT 360F which is a wireless, low voltage, room temperature timer and room thermostat. Its an all singing all dancing bit of kit.
Not cheap (£110 ish).

Andy.

The Timeswitch 140 is a digital plug in programmer. It plugs directly were you mechanical timer is now (I assume it is the one on the boiler). As far as I know you could install it yourself.

The programmer gives 7 day operation, 5/2 day operation or 24 hour operation. You could also control the hot water preheat which is a function that keeps the plate heat exchanger warm to deliver near instant hot water.

It is made by Vaillant.

Expect to pay around 50 pounds.
