Building regs mentions that in certain PRV drain situations the tundish for an unvented water heater needs to be 'visible'. The water heater's going to be located in the loft.

Can the PRV's tundish be located in the loft too? Its visible if you look in the loft, but its not 'everyday visible' as it would be if it was located in the bathroom Or does 'visible' in this case mean just not boxed in?

Locating the tundish in the loft is fine as long as the termination point is visible - and that doesn't include pointing at a roof unless it is PLAINLY visible from a window.

The intention is that the tundish or the discharge point is placed where any discharge would be noticed although that is not written into the regulations.

Discharging into a flowerbed behind some bushes would meet the regulations but is not whats intended!

Its a warning signal that attention is needed!

Many thanks Dan & Tony.

For the heater PRV would a plastic tundish be okay or does it have to be metal?
