washer motor tacho device faulty ???

Can anybody tell me how to tell if a motor tacho device is faulty and if this would stop a washer from starting its wash cycle. This is to do with my previous post (aquarius wma33 stopping). I have checked all other devices ok, but the washer fills with water then does one fast spin then stops and does nothing else. Any help would be appreciated.

broken tacho makes it spin very fast at wash, i know, as i found out the hard way
